Great Articles

Junk Mail, Email, and Telemarketing
Here is a great article from Get Rich Slowly on stopping junk mail, email, and telemarketing calls. I have registered with OptOutPrescreen.com and National Do-Not-Call Registry. I registered with the do not call registry before, unfortunately I have started receiving calls again. I think it is because my husband or I registered for some drawing or something and our names were put back on the list. We will see if it will make a difference.

To reduce the number of catalogs you receive in the mail go to http://www.catalogchoice.org/. I don’t get many catalogs, but many people commented on the web site in the above Get Rich Slowly article.

Raising Money for Weddings
For those who are getting married soon, here is an interesting article that Get Rich Slowly received from a reader on raising money for weddings.

Economic Stimulus
Another interesting note from Get Rich Slowly (can you tell I read his articles everyday) about adding 10% to your Economic Stimulus rebate. Some stores are offering to exchange your rebate for store gift cards and adding 10%. It seem Kroger has started this trend with Sears and Kmart joining in.

6 Ways to Find Additional Money
I have read oodles of articles about ways to save money. Ron at The Wisdom Journal has made a list with a couple of new ways that I have not thought of or read before. My most favorite is
“If you’re paid bi-weekly, condition yourself to live on two paychecks per month. If you’re paid weekly, live on four paychecks per month. When an extra pay period hits in a month, put that entire check into savings. You’ll save over 7 percent of your income with this technique.”

Loans for Economic Stimulus Refund? Really….

If it wasn’t for I’ve Paid For This Twice Already…, I wouldn’t have even thought about this subject. But I totally agree. If you find a place that will give you a loan, DON’T!

As stated in the article, the IRS doesn’t allow refund loans for economic stimulus (code 0248). If you do find that someone that is giving out loans, be couscous. It may be a scam. Loan sharks will do anything to get money from desperate people.

Legitimate loans will come at a cost and reduce the amount of money that could be used to pay down debt or purchase the big flat screen TV. If you receive your tax return by direct deposit, you only have to wait a couple more weeks. Don’t waste your time or money on high interest loans or scams.

Here is a link to the IRS Stimulus Payment Schedule for tax returns processed by April 15, http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html .

Be patient and keep all your money.
